Nepal

Nepal by International Mountain Leader Tom Furey.

Put Simply, Nepal is Epic. Unparalleled mountain views with some of the most peaceful spots in Asia to just sit and absorb your surroundings. The Nepalese people are passionate and proud of their country and will always help you if needed.

How easy is it to get to?

As a country it’s very easy. Within the country you’ll find a mix of bumpy bus journeys and light aircraft flights but generally it’s always easy enough to get where you want to go.

What are your top tips for anyone travelling to this area?

Don’t try to rush your trip. Take rest days not just for acclimatisation to the altitude but also to allow yourself to be able to experience day to day life in Nepal.

What else is there to do, other than mountaineering, in this area?

There’s loads…
Paragliding, mountain biking, kayaking, white water rafting, yoga, visiting some of the world heritage sites or, you could just sit with a drink in the sunshine and watch the world go by.

Are there any dangers or annoyances here?

The only real “danger” in Nepal is, potentially, the effects of altitude on your body and ignoring them while you acclimatise. It’s very easy in Nepal to arrive in a high altitude environment unprepared and without the knowledge to keep yourself healthy. Take a look at this link for a really good booklet “Travel at high altitude”

What one piece of kit could you not manage without on a trip like this?

I like my sleep so for me I always pack a nice, warm, lightweight sleeping bag as the Tea houses can be pretty chilly at night.
