What bit of kit should you never leave out of your bag wherever you go? Ok, let us assume you have things like waterproofs (when does it ever rain or snow, really?), a drink and some food. What would you never leave behind? For me, it is two things a spork and a plug. Why?
Well the spork is great for eating with when you are confronted with having no utensils having just found a pot or tin of your favourite delicacy in some rather obscure little store tucked away in the middle of a remote village or the utensils you are given in that amazing street stall you have found are in a less than ideal condition. It can also be used for a whole range of other tasks, such as acting as a door jam or simply just prodding stuff.
The plug? Never ever travel without a plug. A towel, according to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy “is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have”. They may be right but I believe that a plug is right up there. How many times have you arrived at a hostel or hotel and found that there is no plug for the sink? Whether you want to wash yourself, your clothes or your spork having a plug will save you from having to use a sock to plug the hole in the sink.
Seriously never ever travel without a plug.
