Sarayangdo Hiking, South Korea

And now for something completely different. When I accepted a two year contract in South Korea I had planned to use it a stepping stone to explore some more remote parts of East Asia. Then came COVID which meant I got to see a lot of more of Korea than I had expected. The country has some stunning National Parks with well marked trails and hikes. Wild Camping is also positively encouraged, which is rare these days. I thought I’d share some photos from “Korea’s Most Beautiful Day Hike”. This is on an island called Sarayangdo, just off the South Coast. It is a classic Ridge Walk of between 5- 6 hours in length depending on pace. There’s probably about 1000m of ascent as you follow the ridge, which we were grateful for in the Summer Humidity. The photos don’t do justice to the vistas I’m afraid and you have to forgive our hosts for the metal railings on the Arête!
